Likelihood of snakes from Tram --> Peak

What is the likelihood of encountering snakes between the tram and the peak this time of year?

My guess would be very low. I've never seen a snake above the tram, or above 8000' in any wilderness area for that matter. I'm sure there are occasional ones up there, but they must be very few and far between. Below the tram, you can pretty much count on it.

Here's something cool - if you're ever hiking on the Hawaiian islands, deep in the rain forest, you can be completely comfortable - there are no snakes at all on the islands. Almost worth moving there!

I agree with ZD. That trail has too many travelers on it and given its elevation I would believe the possiblity is very slim.

In close to 40 years of hiking all the Southern California mountains, I have seen one rattlesnake above 8000 feet, out at a campground on Blue Ridge above Wrightwood, and I think it was lost. In all honesty, my 10 year old son and a friend of his came across it. I was back at camp having a beer if memory serves me. Damn, that was a cold beer too. And to think it was interrupted by some kids yelling about some darn old snake.
