Rescue on Skyline

I heard one, maybe two hikers were in trouble around 6,200' this afternoon. RMRU was called out and one was airlifted off the mountain. Rumor has it that heat was an issue.

yep heard that too....gee, I cant imagine. and apparently the helicopter was up there late evening...someone get a late start?

just now making the news. almost thought rescues up there were getting so common that the media quit reporting them. Talk about a late start, 6AM!

You're used to the heat Hal & in better shape than most. People come from the other side of the mountain this time of the year where it is cloudy & cold & ill prepared for a hike of this magnitude & do not realize how different the weather is here.

They were just too slow. 7000 ft in 13+ hours. It wasn't the heat that got them.

I agree with Hal (regarding pace) and Jim (regarding not being prepared for the heat or rigor of Skyline)
