Urgent: Can anyone come to PS City Council TONIGHT?

Postby cynthia23 » Wed Nov 17, 2010 6:26 pm

Sorry, just got this update from Larry; the PS Council is now apparently in some kind of flux or indecision (?!), maybe backing down on their backing-down, and he thinks it's important that anyone who can attend tonight's meeting, do so. You don't have to be there exactly at 6; 7 still works. It's now 5.15 (sorry, but he/we just got word.) If you can go and get up and comment or just applaud/boo, that would be great. I don't know if I can make it, as I have my kids right now, but anybody who reads this and can go--please go ....everything helps!

I can't come tonight. But i did write a follow-up email to the mayor and council expressing my disappointment with their decision to not ask that section 36 be removed from the exchange. The tribe wants the very valuable and developable section 36. They don't give a crap about section 16 and the Skyline.

Here is the text of my email. Maybe i was a bit too snarky ..

I'm very disappointed to learn the city council has decided to not ask for the removal of sections 16 and 36 from the BLM land exchange. But i can't say i'm surprised. The tribe had lots of money and makes big donations to city projects so they get whatever they want. Screw the land and what the people want.

Please write the mayor and city council. You should be able to copy and paste the following line into the "To" field of your email program ..

Steve.Pougnet@palmsprings-ca.gov, Chris.Mills@palmsprings-ca.gov, Ginny.Foat@palmsprings-ca.gov, Rick.Hutcheson@palmsprings-ca.gov, Lee.Weigel@palmsprings-ca.gov

Right on Florian. It's time to get snarky! Seriously, everyone in this town is just too polite. We need to be nastier and blunter about the undue influence the tribe is having on the affairs of Palm Springs.
