I was fortunate to be invited to do Skyline both Sat and Sun with friends. Hiked with KD and Rita on Sat and Karin on Sun. The starting temperature on both days was perfect. Thanks to the winds, visibility in the Coachella Valley was amazing -- made for incredible sunrises as well as pristine views of the Salton Sea. Ran into very nice folks on Sat but Karin and I had Skyline to ourselves yesterday until the final scramble with Don from Grubbs Notch up to the tram viewing platform. KD and Rita headed over to Idywild. They invited me to join them, but I knew I would be toast on Sun. Thanks to KD for the beer (Sam Adams Winterfest -- I had the last one) and to Mark for the ride back to my car. Thanks to Karin for her friendship and conversation as I dragged my tired blonde butt uphill.
One humorous story from the weekend: I barely had a scratch by the time we reached Grubbs Notch on Sat. As I was scrambling up through the rocks to the viewing platorm, I banged my head on a rock outcropping. Wondered why everyone was staring at me when I climbed over the fence, then felt the blood trickling down my face
Miles of smiles,
Ellen
