at 1:30am trying to sleep in my car, I wasn't having good feelings about potentially long ass day in SC. looks like it definitely was! never has a skyline seemed so tame when thinking about what you guys were probably going through.

That's crazy. At what point did you decide to beat a retreat?

walled out just below 7000', we had been using the ice to get over the crux, but now it's too low. searched for too long to find a by-pass, started to get worried about getting lost in the dark, got down out of the final prediciment we were in and took off hoping to hit all our marks with as much light as possible. coming down that slope adjacent (south) of the palms was completely brutal...I'm sure you know where I'm talking about. In the dark even added to the adventure.

I have days where I want to get to a certain goal, then I come across something so fun to explore that I don't really care if I made my first goal...this looks like that sort of situation. Wow! I hope it was even more fun exploring those snow/ice caves than it was looking at the pics. I take it that was an up and back on SC? Sweet! Although a long day, I hope you brought back memories that make it well worth the effort, and even though you didn't have time to finish, I hope it was one of your best adventures ever.

At the crux, how high is the wall? Is it doable with protection? Any pictures of that?
