April 29- Baldy/May 13- Palms to Peak

if anyone's interested in going: i'll be doing a training hike on baldy (village trail) this sun. and then doing c2c in may; both will be about 25-30 minute/mile pace. you can check out the details on both through the calendar at outdoorsclub.org (trust me, this is not an endorsement). feel free to email me with questions: dmann35@sbcglobal.net

happy trails.

Doug: Does this mean you will expect to get from Palm Springs to Long Valley in 4 to 5 hours when you do the C2C hike? That's a quick pace - I wish I could do that.

well, not exactly. after a few short breaks and brunch at flat rock, i'm hoping to make the ranger station in 5.5-6 hours. unless it's like last year's hike, when it was 82 at 4:30 and i had to take a nap in the pine needles. it was a great nap...

btw- there will be a few people going slower and at least one will only go to the tram, so there's room for all speeds.

This is just a test reply. The thread should show up in both sections: Mt. San Jacinto and non-Mt. San Jacinto. Hopefully this reply does as well....

It works except that the thread in this section never gets bumped to the top when somebody replies, so it's simpler to just leave it here for discussion of the May 13 hike. Some of these topics are a little grey (especially this one), but cleaning house makes the place easier to navigate as the board is getting more visitors.

I haven't made it to Long Valley is less than 7 hours yet - maybe in the fall I will.
