Sprint to the Summit-This Saturday

Postby SDathlete » Thu Oct 21, 2010 11:30 am

I have decided to come out Saturday for "Sprint to the Summit"...my one man show for one night only. A kind of mini ultra or not so mini taking into account the elevation gain & distance.

Im planning on leaving the museum at appx 5am-ish if anyone wants to join me. I'm going VERY light and my goal is to make it to the Summit in under 5 1/2 hours.

Have lunch on top and spend some time there. I'll need a ride back to the museum if anyone is available :?: otherwise taking a cab or thumbing it back.

Great goal, I hope you make it. Post and let us know how it goes!

By the way, if you're close, but not quite, or if you make it and want to shoot for sub-5, there are some substantial improvements to the route if you know where to turn. I know a few, but Steve or Fern can really show you the most efficient paths.

Also, on the part above the tram, the trail over to Wellmans is way longer than necessary. Taking the Sid Davis route in the winter, I make it to the peak way faster even though I'm having to deal with the snow. It cuts the distance down from 5.5 to 2.9, so even though you're still climbing the same mountain, it omits wasted time. Just some thoughts to add variety to the adventure.

Anyway, have fun, and I'll be looking forward to your TR.

thanks Z. I know you regulars know all the short cuts, every bush and mouse dropping on that mountain! I definitely would be interested in learning that short cut to the peak...i think i know where it is but i'll probably stay with the trail this time around. next time for sure when im with some of you regulars.
