Roll Call Skyline/c2c Saturday 10/23/10

There are a bunch of us leaving the museum around midnight under a full moon. The Sierra Club is also going up at this time or a tad earlier. My carpool group is leaving San Bernadino at 10.30 pm on Friday.
I am wondering if there will be any snow on the traverse at 7500 feet. Rain is predicted in Palm Springs tomorrow and possibly Wednesday.
Ellen - let us know how you find the traverse. On which day are you checking out this section?

Looks like the snow may come down to 7,500 ft. by the middle of this week.

If it falls, maybe it will be gone by Sat, rather early for the year indeed.
I may be going up the tram in the middle of the day Tues, if I see anything noteworthy, I'll report.

Thanks for checking on it ss. The link below says that there is a 60 percent chance of snow on Tuesday and 50 percent on Wednesday. Also the low on Wednesday should be around 36 degrees so whatever falls should not freeze

What a year. First the snow does not melt until the beginning of June, then the temperatures skyrocket

im debating on doing what im calling..."sprint to the summit" on saturday. leaving museum about 5ish and running to the summit and seeing how quickly i can do it.

anyone else game? im feeling a little under the weather after two weekends of strenous high elevation hiking so will decide probably by thursday. depends on weather too of course.

One of the guys at the upper tram station says that there is snow at the traverse at 7500 feet and above. If there is still snow by Friday/Saturday our carpool group will have to postpone our trip.

Hi folks,
I was at the Mt. Station at 3pm Tues & it was cold on the east side of the mountain, instead of the west, this storm circulated around I guess.
Their was light hail as we reached the bottom of everyone's "favorite" cement walkway.

04 from the tram & his lady friend came up for Skyline as we were there, and showed photos of what looked like snow at approx. 7,500 (or even below), but I think it was what we saw on the ground from earlier in the day, hail patches that weren't melting quickly, as it was about 38 degrees.

My guess is it will be gone, unless they got dumped on last night, I'm Sure Steve & Fern's report will be more up to date.

it rained ALL day and night (tuesday) here in San Diego...what are/have the weather conditions been like in the desert? Did San Jac get dumped on with snow? pics anyone?
