Camping near the beginning of the Skyline Trail

Postby KathyW » Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:05 am

I live close enough to Palm Springs that I have never thought of camping the night before doing the Skyline Trail, but for other people that have a longer drive is there a good place to camp fairly close to the Museum? If you have a vehicle suitable to sleep in, will you be bothered if you just pull off along the side of the road near the museum and sleep or is there an area on public lands or in a campground close by that works good?

I usually camp the night before a C2C hike at the Motel 6 near where Ramon Rd. meets the main drag. You don't even need a sleeping bag. 8)
