Tram shoeing on Sunday?

Postby Blooty » Wed Jan 27, 2010 4:00 pm

Anyone going up Sunday? Stacy, Curt and I are thinking of tram shoeing...speaking for myself, could use someone along who had more experience. Weather is supposed to clear up by Sunday.

Blooty, I am hoping to go up on Sunday. I just got back from a day up there. My original plan was to rent snowshoes and tramp around a bit by myself, but when I learned that the rental place is closed on Wednesday I decided to invite my daughter and grandkids and just play in the snow. It was cloudy, but the sun came out a little bit. We had a blast with our snow saucers, but I was really itchin' to do some real hikin'.
I'd like to tag along with you. I'm a fairly strong hiker with NO snowshoing experience. I'm not too confident about setting out very far on my own.

We had lots of fun today in the sun and snow. My first time on snow shoes! Loved it! Never would have imagined they could cram that many people on the tram! The ride down was packed. After reading Ellen's report, definately glad we left a bit early. Photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29308219@N06/sets/72157623331351784/show/

Did you make it to the summit or did you stop at Tamarack or Round Valley? All of it's good fun :D

Tracie and Sally -
Curt and I had a blast hiking with you today. No summit - no big deal!
It was more fun to get some experience on the snowshoes in varied terrain. And eventhough it was our first time there and your first time on the shoes...it worked out perfectly. I think 5-6 miles was a good trial run.
Glad you enjoyed it too! We'll be back! (but we're not fans of the tram!)
