Went up today (12/22)

Took the 10am tram up with my brother and went out. Made it to about round valley but we took the indirect route. Just up and down ridges having a good time. With no snowshoes we knew we were not going to make it to the peak, but still had a blast. There was a good 3-4 inches of snow, but as we scaled the ridges found them to be mostly ice with some deeper snow about 6 inches

Then the winds came and forced us to turn back.

We met a nice couple at the tram station who bought us a drink :)

The snow was only like 200-300 fett below the tram station. That is all I could see from riding the tram. As for how far down it is the skyline trail I would suggest asking someone else that has been up recently.

Me and a friend tried to make it to the peak on Monday (21 Dec). We missed the peak when we ran out of time and light at just over 10k. It was still a great day. The snow was pretty well frozen solid. Crampons and ice axe are a must.
