Drive time?

I will be in LA for business next week. I plan to hike to the top of San Jacinto Peak from the tram on Sunday morning. How long will the drive take me from LAX?

I'd guess two hours. Mapquest will give you an estimate too.

New guy coming out of LAX. I would figure 3 hours if you don't hit rush hour traffic. Four hours if you come across in traffic.

On a sunday morning from LA area, 1hour 45 minutes, if you keep a speed of 70+ coming straight through on the 10East, be careful for 5-O when you hit banning/Beaumont area.

Before I moved here I used to come to Palm Springs multiple times a year from Redondo Beach (15 minutes from LAX). My preferred route was:

105 East
605 North
60 East
10 East
111 South into Palm Springs

On a Sunday morning it will take you 2 hours. Mapquest will direct you onto the 91, but after spending twenty years in LA that's a freeway I learned to avoid at all costs. The route above is only a few miles longer.

I got curious and mapquested it myself. They gave your exact directions Mark, and their estimate was 2:10.

The 60 freeway connector to the 10 Freeway is down to one lane in the East bound direction, so it's backing up there quite a bit and will add an additional 10 minutes to your driving time, if there's an accident in that area then there's no way around it and that could turn into a nightmare.

I would take the 605 to the 10 Freeway and come all the way out to Palm Springs from the 605 on the 10 Freeway, not the 60 freeway, why risk it, I did it on my way to Skyline Last Weekend so that construction is going to be "Ongoing" for some time. They are redoing the bridge and widening the connector.

It's only 5 minutes extra on the 605 freeway to keep going on the 605 north from the 60 interchange to the 10 interchange and it's well worth it to avoid any and all problems related to that construction area on the 60 East at the 10. Add to that the fact that the 10 Freeway has more lanes and it just make more sense to avoid that part of the 60 freeway - just my opinion.

Yep, agreed. If there's construction just keep going up the 605 to the 10. At that time of day it makes little difference.
