Skyline condition 12/30 + Happy New Year!

Postby zippetydude » Sat Dec 30, 2006 2:26 pm

Did Skyline this morning - there's quite a bit of snow above Slick Rock, more than last weekend, but still not enough to be trouble. Depth of maybe 6". I brought poles, but didn't really need them. Warm enough so that the snow was soft, even at 8:30 a.m. Saw no one, but there were boot prints from some group that had gone before us, perhaps earlier in the week. The trail was very easy to follow.

Happy New Year to all!

Thanks for the update. A friend an I went Thursday morning to 4800ft. Snow patches in the shade but nothing else. We were surprised at the amount of trash we packed out. Pie tin, sour cream container and about 15 cig butts around the stashed tent.

Anyway we got our fluids cached and will look to hit it next weekend. Thanks again for your trail update. We looked it over with the field glasses but your report clears the way.

By next weekend it could be icy. More likely it would take a couple weeks, but it's still a possibility in the near future with warm days and freezing nights.
