how do i obtain a map to hike from idyllwild to the tram?

You can usually obtain maps at the State Park or National Forest Ranger stations up in Idyllwild. SportsChalet and REI carry quite a few maps as well.

Tom Harrison Maps are the standard, they have excellent maps for the San Jacinto area and Sierras.

They are available at REI and Adventure 16 stores in SCal.
