Camping in December in January

Postby Rileys_dad » Tue Nov 21, 2006 6:43 pm

Me and a friend are planning a trip in the next month or two. What kind of nighttime/daytime temps can we expect? It looks like high/low of around 55/35 acording the weather sites. Does it get much worse between now and february? We are thnking of doing a two night trip. Also we I am not familiar with what elevations to expect snow? I am not sure where we would depart from bu so far I am thinking of starting from Idyllwild. (not set in stone yet) thanks for anyhelp.

Hi,
Here's a link which you might have for weather in the SJSP.
http://www.pstramway.com/cams-weather.asp

Presently it's 60 & 35 as you'd mentioned, it can get into the teens at night if weather moves in.
The wind is what can make it Cold, if it's calm & the suns out,I've snoeshoed in short sleeves in the 40's. as the sun is strong up there.
If the forest gets hit, (I've heard a mild El Nino prediction), you could have 2 ft. on the ground.

Have a great time, here's a link to SJSP:

Thanks, the tram weather link is about what I was looking for. It has monthly averages that should be more accurate than the info for the general area.
