I went and climbed Sugarloaf Mountain near Pinyon today in the Santa Rosa Mountains. It was an incredibly fun climb although it is not particularly high or difficult. Even though it is right of Highway 74 I don't think many people ever climb it because it is not on any peak list and it is kind of rocky and steep. There is also an abundance of cactus and agave.
I really enjoyed it and the weather was wonderful.
A trip report is available on my blog, as usual.
