Trailhead Parking at Snow Creek

I will need to drop off my Jeep somewhere near the PCT descends into Snow Creek for about a week while we hike up from Scissors Crossing. Where is the best/safest place to leave a vehicle in the Snow Creek area?

No ideas? I hear that I will get towed if I park in Snow Creek Village on the north side of the I-10. Parking on the wrong place (assuming there is a right place) of Snow Creek Road sounds like I'd get my Jeep impounded.

I don't mind hoofing it a few miles if required to get back to the Jeep, hell whats a few more after 135 miles right? I just have no idea where would make a good spot and I'll be arriving after dark so a good reconnaissance would be difficult.

There's a dirt parking lot for the PCT two miles north of I-10. It's legal, BLM I think. I can't speak to how safe your car would be though.

I regularly hike the PCT and park a car during the day just outside Snow Creek "city limits" on Snow Creek Road without incident. Say hello to Charles, the security guard posted between 8 and 5 weekdays at the drinking fountain. Say hello to caretaker Tom (the new Woody) as well if you see him.

I wouldn't park right in the Snow Creek area. Those of us who did the climb this past March got a nice letter from the DWA. They just assume that your up in the "illegal" area. Just park farther away so there is no confusion.

I can handle a letter, as long as there's not a fine or impounding of my vehicle. Maybe I can leave sign on the dash saying we are on the PCT?

I've had no problem leaving my truck on the side of snow creek rd either. but then my vehicle hasn't ever been used as a getta way vehicle.

As far as a fine goes, the DWA says that they are going to be alot more strict in the near future, including fines. I think you will be alright if you leave a sign in the window.
