Great ski conditions 2/21

Postby skisyphus » Mon Feb 23, 2009 12:24 am

I have skied off the summit of San Jac maybe ten times over the past 30yrs and this past Saturdays conditions were the best yet.

Good coverage and near spring like snow on the SE slopes towards Cornell made the descent fast and fun.

Skiing down through Tamarack to the trail was a breeze with everything covered and no icyness.

Probably 2-3 feet at the ranger station and 3-5 feet above Round Valley.

Get out there and do it!

Jim, (skisyphus)

I skied from the summit on Sunday. It was my first day on my new A/T skis. The snow was good, I managed a dozen very rewarding powder turns on the east slope.

Hey Jim,
I also skied off the summit on 2/21 with a snowboarder in tow... maybe I got a picture of you:

I met a skier named John (in the red jacket), but maybe I misheard the name. That was a pretty nice day up there. I was able to skin straight up the peak without any meandering around and the snow wasn't half bad. A little slushy maybe, but hey, its socal. I had a helmet cam on as well, but I haven't had time to cut the video yet. Coming soon!
