I will be leaving the museum at about 3.00 am or a little sooner. Is anyone else going?

The National Weather Service's forecast for Palm Springs sure makes it tempting:

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 75.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 55.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 77

Unfortunately, I have to haul weight this weekend so I'm not sure Skyline will be the place for me.

I plan on heading up again this weekend. Either Saturday or Sunday.

Cy - how much longer do you think we have for Skyline being doable without crampons/ice axe? Is it possible to predict, or take an educated guess, based on your experience?

Mark - In the past, that time could be the middle or late December
The following website says that monsoon season could hit San Jacinto (above 8500 ft)
within the next 30 days http://hiking.socalweather.net/

Be sure to check the timeliness of the weather forecast of the various web sites. The socalweather.net page predicting the monsoonal activity shows that it was last updated May 19, 2007.

I'm going up again this Saturday, should be showing up around the same time as you Cy. Hope to be able to say 'Hi' somewhere along the trail.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the snowy days of ice axe and crampons...

No worries, Cy. I never used to pay much attention to the dating of forecasts until I got burned a couple of times myself :wink:

CY, i plan to do another back to back of skyline. Going up Saturday and Sunday, both days starting around 6am.
If i am fast enough Saturday maybe i miight see you above flat rock.
