Howdy folks,
Hope everyone is ready for a fun filled night, and it breaks my heart to say that I won't be going with you. About 2 weeks ago, I got a DPT vaccination, and for the last 10 days I've been fighting off flu-like symptoms. I won't bore you (or gross you out) with the details, but it has left me as weak as a kitten. I don't think I could walk 5 miles on level ground, let alone 12 miles with 8000 feet of uphill. My heart and my ego say "go for it", and I feel as if I'm letting you folks down, but at this point, it would be foolish for me to try to "run a marathon" up the mountain. If I feel up to it, I hope to be at the museum tomorrow night to see you folks off, and to be at the tram Saturday morning, to help shuttle people back to their cars. My family and I are moving back to PS next month, and my original idea was to use this event to meet a group of like minded people that also love to do what I do. I still hope to do that. Now I think I'll crawl back into bed.
Sincerely and with best regards,
Skunk
PS. I have an old pair of Salewa crampons (circa 1978), that need a good home. If anyone is interested, they can have them. They require a rand on the boot, so trail-runners won't work. I'll bring them to the museum tomorrow night.
