It's nice to see that someone else shares my snowshoeing philosophies, Steve!

REI rents them cheap (snow shoes, that is), it's a great way to see what fits and what works best :D

I would never wait for consolidation when I could be the one making it consolidate :D

Your right..it will be really hard to wait until then..

..I was thinking about renting at the top of the tram but figured those would be junk..I almost pulled the trigger last snow storm on some snow shoes but couldn't figure out which ones I wanted..either the MSR lightning or the Denali's..not sure if I want the tails or not..but thanks for the heads up about REI renting them..gotta check them out for sure

edit: just called the Rancho Cucamonga store and they said they are all rented out for the next week and a half..$12 a day and they are MSR denali's..I should just go and buy some..decisions, decisions..once these clouds break, it will be hard to resist

The rent snowshoes and skis at the Mountain Center near the upper Tram Station:

It looks like it will be open 9 to 4 over the weekend.

The first time I went snowshoeing I rented them there.

I've had to rent them up there at the adventure center before, and if stuck without my shoes for any reason, I would do it again. They work just fine if you want to be in the snow.

With the amount of snow that's probably up there, and the gazillion folks who will be ascending the Tram on Saturday/Sunday, I'll take a 'rain' check  until next weekend so there will be a good trench to follow from the Tram station to the summit. :D
3 of the 5 voices in my head are telling me to "Go for it!"
