does anyone know for the people that don't have year round passes if they would have to pay twice to take the tram down? i would think that the pass would be good for the whole day. Input?

Don't you just pay half if you are only going 'one-way'? In that case, I'd imagine it would be two one-way tickets...

Tina asked,

"does anyone know for the people that don't have year round passes if they would have to pay twice to take the tram down?"

In my experience the tickets are for a single use.

Tram tickets bought online or at the Valley station are good for one up and one down. If you just need to go down, you can pay half price at the mountain station departure desk from a Tram employee.

This adventure may present challenges for us in getting together as a group. Here's my two cents, if anybody is interested:

What "having fun" or "a great adventure" means may vary widely from person to person.
For some, the ultimate challenge of squeezing three trips in may be their biggest goal. Sweet!
For others, (including me), that's a cool thought, but their emphasis may be spending time with good friends afterwards, even if that means scaling back the day's adventure to two, or even one, hike.

Are we thinking about meeting at a restaurant afterwards? That's a possibility, though we may not be all that presentable!
Is there a park real close by where we could cook and eat and relax in between hikes and at the end of the day?
Does anyone have any thoughts about trying to coordinate ending times, so we'll all end up at the same place at the same time sometime during the day?

Tina, this is your baby! You have mad planning skills, what are your thoughts? I know you have your parents offering to shuttle people back and forth...that's a great idea already.

Anyway, just trying to be supportive here. Walt, you live out there. Is there some place real convenient between the tram and the museum that we could make a base of operations / ending point / pub? Or Tina, do you already have plans of how to pull this off?

Howdy Z,

There's a nice park not too far away from the museum. We met there when Walt and Jean organized my "get well" barbecue and pot luck in the spring of 2008.

As for a time frame for the celebration: my guess would be mid- to late- afternoon. I'll need to start well before the crap of dawn to complete several Skylines by late afternoon.

Looking forward to the fall meeting of the Skyline Addicts not so anonymous 8)

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

I think the smart thing is to only attempt 1 more skyline than you've done previously this season. So if you've already done 2 back-to-back Skylines this fall, then attempting 3 in one day would be reasonably safe. Attempting 3 after only being used to 1 could be problematic I think.
