Ellen - Regarding the speed demons applies to me even more. I will also need to start earlier so I will be at the Mill Creek ranger station between 5.00 and 5.30 am.
Maria's daughter said that your Fuller ridge trip only took eight hours round trip. Wow - what a group !

We're very close to the summer solstice, so even if you leave at 5:00, there's already enough light to hike. Gotta love summer.

See you on the trail!

Howdy Z :)

Amen to the longer days of summer 8)

Howdy Cy :)

Perhaps you, Ted, and Maria can carpool over to Mill Creek Ranger Station and I can meet you there at 5:30. I'm hoping that Kathryn can start earlier as well.

We had a fabulous time on Fuller Ridge. The sheer beauty of the trail makes it worth the pounding your body takes on the 8 mile drive over the dirt road. We referred to the drive as a "free massage." Thanks again to Karin and her truck Freida for transporting Lance, Maria and I to the trail head.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Howdy Z :)

I think that Ted and Maria are coming -- I've e-mailed them with the information regarding the hike and get together. I'll follow up to confirm.

Kathryn is up SJ with the boys today.....I'm pretty sure she has talked to Maria and knows what they are doing. As soon as she gets back from having FUN I'm sure she'll post.

Her not having to work all summer drives me NUTS !

Hi Ellen,

For this coming Saturday, I'm planning on doing about 10 miles instead of 16, which would be about 5 or so hours of hiking. Gotta save time and energy for the Fiesta!!

I actually haven't talked to Maria recently and have no idea what they are doing! It sounds like you know as much as anyone. I figure they'll come if they have all the details, so thanks for informing them.

See you Saturday!

Hi Kathryn. Hey, if you can squeeze in a couple extra miles, Limber Pine is 12 round trip, and it's a beautiful place to stop. The views are just about as good as they are at the peak, and you can go over to the spring and get some delicious spring water.

If you're thinking of going on the shorter side, you could stop on the far side of Manzanita Flat by the Columbine junction. That's pretty as well, and it's only 8 miles. 10 would put you halfway up the hill to Limberpine, turning around at no particular spot. I'd say if you feel like pushing it a little, it's worth going on up. If you feel like relaxing a little, it'll make for a nice easy hike if you stop at the junction. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Zip!

I really appreciate the details you've given of the trails! What's 2 more miles?? Limber Pine sounds great and I always love a great spot to stop for a picnic anyway! So, there's water there? Cool. If that's the case, then I won't have to carry 3 liters, like I usually do. I'm guessing I could probably get by with a liter and 1/2 for 6 miles...

Oh, one more question: what's the elevation for this particular section of the hike?
