Ashley Simpson!!! I have to admit, in some sick, sick way I almost liked our troll. His unswerving verve, his tireless energy, his selection of female names gleaned from his collection of seventies porn movies ... It's just so delightfully demented that a guy would go out of his way to attack ... a hiking board? It's practically Dada-esque. I guess he will have to move on to crocheting dot com or tupperware collectors of america ....but I feel kinda , almost, nearly sad that we lost him. Every mountain needs a troll?

But, seriously, Perry, thanx for your tireless work in keeping the board sane.

tomcat,
I refrained from entering this discussion until I saw my user named mentioned.
Not sure if your judging / comparing my fitness level to others you may know, but until you've hiked with me, it's a big assumption.

Maybe I'll run into you on the trail sometime?!

I assumed I had - maybe I have the wrong guest -
Last time I hiked with SS was to show a cool little shortcut that knocked 5 miles or so off an Olancha Peak dayhike
Maybe I erred - Tom

names

Hi Tom,

Sorry for the confusion, I realize my name "guest" can be a general one, (I will check with moderator to maybe change it).

I've never done Olancha peak, but have done Skyline way over 100 times, (mostly in the 4 hr. range).

Isn't confusion great! :D Scott, I think Tomcat was complimenting you as being "hardcore," which you are, but he really meant somebody else who is part of ODC.

I think the general consensus is that people don't want the troll here. Personally I don't really care, except for a few posts that get out of hand, but it's much easier to just ban the person. I don't have time to continually babysit somebody who needs to get outdoors more.

O yeah Perry, of course I was kidding about missing the troll! Absolutely you hafta get rid of him whenever he pops his head up. Just joking--or maybe speaking with my "writer hat" on, cuz it's so incredibly weird to me that anyone would fixate their hostility on a hiking board.

The nice thing, though, is that we are all pretty good folks who generally work things out and find ways to agree to disagree that are respectful. I think this board is unusual in its good humor. that in itself innoculates us against trolls. As you say, Grandmaster P., maybe it's the fresh air ...

I don't understand why the troll bothers with this really small message board, when he can just go here:
http://www.summitpost.org/phpBB2/

or here:
http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthr ... p/ubb/cfrm

or here:
http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/forum.html

It's like playing on a small stage in a small town, instead of going to the big city. :D Actually on the Cascade Climbers board, this wimpy troll would get eaten alive.
