Anyone going Saturday 9/29

I'm rethinking the midnight starting time on the 29th. Is the Sierra Club starting so early because they hike so slowly? If I start at that time I expect to be above Flat Rock before sunrise and I don't want to do that section in the dark and cold. If the present weather forecast holds I considering starting at 4AM after dropping off a bike at the tram per Perry's instructions. If you continue up to MSJ, I'll probably see you on your return leg.

Dave - They start that early to avoid the heat below Flatrock and to have lots of time to climb the peak. They also like their rest breaks. I might see you on the way back. I am going at 2 am. or a little sooner. The Sierra Club is thinking of cancelling their trip, but a few of them are still going.

Is everyone still planning on leaving at 12am Saturday morning? Is anyone thats planning on hiking to the peak going to leave a car at the tram parking lot the night before? I am hoping to not have to take a taxi back to the museum. I plan on arriving at the trail head at about 7pm on Friday, and trying to sleep for a few hours. See everyone there!

Mark - Some people from the Sierra Club still plan on going around midnight. They had trouble getting leaders so they postponed their scheduled trip. I will try and get there around midnight or very soon after. Jared and his friends are going at 2.30 am and Dave and Udi at 4 am. Cathy Unger and Don Elliot will leave around 2 am. Mike Theobald and his friends are going on Oct 6th at 1 am. I will try and make that one also. Udi will go later around 3 am. on the 6th.

I will also be treking on 9/29 at 2 or 2.30am. I will be joined by three of my friends. I had trekked with you last year (along with three others).

If you are leaving at 2.30am, I will see you there, if not, I'll look for Jared at 2.30am. Would like to go with a group when starting off the trek.

I plan climb to the peak, couldn't make it the last time.

See you on the trail AJ. You will have lots of company. The hardest part is getting there early. I am happy to see so many first timers coming back for more. Its got to be the tram.

Felipe - You have to do c2c first before you know how addicting it is. Maybe you have and did not enjoy it at the time. Iron Mtn used to be my favorite before I discovered c2c not that there is anything wrong with San G which is a good conditioner. I dont have to get a permit except at the Valley Ranger Station, and is a great bail out point if my old knees and back start acting up. Also I can do it eleven months in the year.

Twelve of us including ten from the Sierra Club and Mark left the museum at 11.30pm most headed for the peak. I got to the tram at 8am after leaving Flat Rock at first light. The weather was perfect, even a little cold. We were freezing at Flat Rock but warmed up soon after leaving.
When we got back to the museum three of the cars had their windows smashed in. Dont leave anything in the car to tempt them.
