I think so. I might have to walk Skyline but I could probably start with you guys.

You injured or just too busy to train lately? I only run about a mile or so of Skyline on my best days, so if you're not hurt I don't think you'd exactly be falling behind. I'm hoping to do Whitney this weekend, so I'll be looking for a relaxed, chat-with-friends pace too.

I absolutely agree with you about Forsee. Thanks to winter snowshoeing, I've learned a good short cut up after the trail swings east and comes to the lookout over the canyon. Rather than heading back over to the west, you shoot up the ridge until you intersect the San Gorgonio backbone.
Something like this?

That's it. Ellen, if you recall a couple years back when a group of us went up to Anderson, Steve, Fern and I went up that way and you and a few others stayed on the trail. Oddly, even though our route was much shorter, you arrived to the point where we waited on the trail within about 5 minutes of our getting there, so it didn't seem to save all that much time. I like the xc route better, though, because it's got great views looking down from the edge of the precipice.

HJ, do you go that way too?

Howdy Z :)

I absolutely remember that hike with you and the gang. The first time I snowshoed up that route this year, I realized why you liked it so much 8)

My friends have noted that I seem to have this desire to go straight uphill -- maybe that's why I like Skyline

Miles of smiles,

Haven't tried it yet, but it looks good. It was just a logical route, so I guessed that Ellen might be taking it.

Of course, maybe I shouldn't try to associate "logic" and "Ellen" (the woman who wants to go straight up hill).

I'm wondering if it's wise to schedule the potluck on the 22nd. I thought the reopening was Monday the 24th, at least according to the tramtim thread? Also, I note they say 'tentative' reopening--I recall some years where they added on an extra week or more because of issues that arose. Maybe it would be safer to give ourselves some leeway? Could we get a tram employee to weigh in on this?

Whenever you schedule it, I'll be there, though. Been too long, and also we can talk about the BLM situation ....

Just out of shape, but it might be the humidity that's been slowing me down so much lately. Definitely can't do it if the tram is closed. I forgot about the maintenance update.

We'll have lots of time to talk as we walk back down...
