I think it would be fun if everyone started out at a time that would put us all popping out at Grubbs Notch at about 8:00 AM. So, an 8 hr Skyliner could start at midnight, a 7 hr Skyliner at 1 AM, the Greyhounds (~ 4 hr Skyliners) could start at 4 AM.

I've spent the last two days going up San Bernardino peak and San Gorgonio via winter snow cross country routes and am really looking forward to hiking in the desert again

Howdy All

Getting psyched for the moonlight Skyline hike

Moon will be illuminated 98%. Moon rises is 11:40 PM Sat May 14 and sets at 4:14 AM. Sun rise is 5:45 AM.

I will arrive around 12:45 AM and start at 1 AM sharp. I'm planning on a 6.5 to 7 hour hike to the tram.

Saint Florian is unable to come :cry:

I will try to pick up some glow sticks for anyone wanting to wear one.

Howdy All

Final update for the Moonlight Skyline hike:

We will leave at 1 AM sharp. Found some lightweight glow necklaces which will be easy to attach to the back of daypacks if desired

Current weather forecast for Palm Springs:

Predicted temperature at 1 AM is 67 degrees.

Predicted high for the Tram station -- 48 degrees and breezy (low is 33 degrees).

Current weather forecast for the summit of San Jacinto (I'm stopping at the Tram station):

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Windy, with a west wind between 25 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.

See all you hikin' fools very early tomorrow :lol:

I'm afraid I can't tell you, since I appear to be incapable of programming that complex device known as an alarm clock.

Apparently "Zip" refers to my IQ. I set the clock, was all ready and packed to go, then woke up several hours too late because I forgot to actually turn the clock on.

Zippetyfoo.
