Snowcreek PCT to tram hike

Yeah, Brian is a friend and co-worker. Doing well, but unfortunately working more than hiking. He's spoken highly of the mythical Z-Dude and this epic adventure, so hoping to try it.

I'll keep my eye out for upper elevation snow reports, but if anybody knows where to get a quality report in a couple weeks, please let me know.

I've been checking out the PCT on the other side of the 10 lately, but if the weather holds, I may do that Snow Creek section in the next week or two. If so, I'll give you some first-hand data and hopefully post pics. The tricky part is the snow - I'd probably just turn around if it got dicey, but if it gets bad after 23 miles (the peak is right at 25) then that makes for a long day running back to the car! Maybe someone will do Marion this weekend.

around there..it's been icy with a little soft on it..nice traveling. would bring chains to make traveling quicker.

Sounds like you could go all the way to the tram without too much difficulty (see Lilbitmo's post). You should have no problems with snow going up from the desert on the PCT to the Fuller Ridge trailhead.

Heh heh. Okay Ellen, that made me laugh. It reminds me of my first trail run ever going up the South Fork trail . . . I only made it as far as the Wilderness boundary and I thought I was gonna die on the spot.

How embarrassing, I had gone and gotten the wilderness permit, then was so sick after that amazingly long distance of 2 miles that I didn't even go into the wilderness. "I don't think this is for me" was my conclusion. I went home and told everybody that was my first and last trail run.

But, those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. I'm afraid everyone on this board has a special kind of learning deficit - we keep showing up and getting into crazy adventures when we really should know better by now.

I even know of one crazy woman who was injured, then almost froze to death up on top of Mt. San Jacinto. As soon as she was healthy, that nut went right back up there again! Some people! They just never learn!
