Howdy All,

Ah ha, so that's why it took us so long to get to the beer!

i was in Palm Spring's for a girl's weekend and was able to squeeze in one Skyline on Saturday. i met with Ellen, Dave G, Lilbitmo, Zach, Steve and Greg and we all headed up at 1:30 am. i have to admit i usually do not hike as fast in darkness as i do during daylight, but i was caught in the "Vortex of Ellen." when i stopped to add a layer at Flat Rock i found myself completing the hike solo. not a problem, it gave me time to enjoy the sunrise and take some photos that the earlier pace would not have allowed.

i ended up reaching the tram 6.25 hrs after i started, headed down with the early birds and resumed my weekend with the girls.

thank you Tina for organizing the event and having your family there for the trips back to the museum. i had a ride with your sister and brother-in-law. very generous and kind of them.

it was great meeting Ellen, you rock girl!, Tina, Walt, Jean, Ze, Steve (Bluerail) and Zippetydude from the board. also good to see Dave G, Gigamike, Rick, Lilbitmo and meet new faces (to me) Zach, Steve F. and Greg.

Congrats to all who did it in one, two or three and those that did a complete C2C!!! it was a hike of epic proportions anyway you look at it.

Congrats everyone on their Skylines, C2C's, Double Skylines, and Triple Skylines! It's been fun reading all the reports.

I'm still dreaming of doing a full C2C from the desert to the summit and back again someday, but the hike from the Salton Sea (Oasis) to Rabbit Peak has really caught my attention lately so that comes first as far as the order of difficult hikes for me.

Great shots, Norma (as usual). I really liked the "alpenglow" ones and also the B&W one. Very cool.

And of course, our favorite Mountain Mime.

It's Route 2 that I'm planning on doing. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to do it as a day hike or carry enough stuff to allow for an overnight bivy. If I do it overnight, I might go cache water along the route in advance.

Hi Kathy, shoot me a PM when you get ready to do this; if you're looking for company I might join you. I hiked Rabbit/Villager from S22 and actually enjoyed it. I remember meeting Mars Bonfire on Villager. He told me he had left a super bright strobe light sitting on the dashboard of his truck back at the trailhead. It was very effective as a navigational aid for the return trip in the dark, but it looked so very far away that for a time I couldn't bear to look at it.

P.S.-Sorry for the thread drift.
