I wasn't going too fast but I did get to the tram around 9am with some ODCers. What time did you get to the tram?

The tram guy told me earlier that the guy in distress descended from Flat Rock (which sounds pretty horrible in itself...)

He also said that the large group that went up yesterday left litter all over the trail; someone came up behind them with a trash bag full. Empty water bottles etc....Cynthia?

I agree, the descending part does not sound fun. But the weather in PS yesterday was relatively mild and probably made the hike down somewhat tolerable.

Hey everybody -- I love this board, its a great source of info. I was one of the slow ODC'ers on the trail Sat. I have to call bulls*** on the trash quote. Most of the ODC'ers were in front of me and I saw no trash, so don't blame us.

Cy, i must of just missed you. I left (by myself) at 5:50am and arrived into Long Valley at 11:12....i shocked myself, 5 hours and 22 min.
Zip, it was a pleasure meeting you as well.
I met a guy named Lyle towards the bottom portion of the trail, very nice guy.
Towards the top i met a guy named Joe whom i hung out with at the bar for sometime....he was part of the odc group, another nice guy.
All and all it was a great day on the mountain for me.

5:22! Sweet! That's taking a huge chunk off of 7:00! Were you shooting for a really fast time, or are you finding you're in better shape than you realized? Maybe both? Either way, great job.

By the way, I've found that my Skyline time is almost exactly the same as my Whiney ascent time . . . Have you done Whitney? If not, you're certainly in shape for it. Maybe you're thinking about back to back Whitneys?

LOL, i was trying to get in front of this couple on the trail, they were kinda fast, so i was staying at their pace trying to pass them, then finally did a short cut (that doreen taught me) i was able to do to get ahead. Then i tried to stay a decent amount of time in front of them so we didn't go back and forth passing one another. In doing this, next thing i knew i was at the 5500 mark.
At flat rock i ran into the odc peeps, i didn't want to fall behind them so i took two bites of my sandwich and zipped (no pun intended) up ahead of them.
I didn't bring a watch for the purpose of not turning it into a time thing...although i found myself asking the time from the people i did pass along the way.
Next thing i knew i was at the top, surprised myself actually.

In regards to whitney, have not done it yet, turned in an application but was denied. i think because i asked for weekend days to hike. hoping to go up and try to get in the day of the hike sometime in august.

Who said that? One of the tramcar operators gets bored and makes up stuff.
