I had a great time hiking with you all! It was just a perfect day. Hope to see you all up there again soon! Thanks for the photos Dave. They're great. Here are a few more.

PS: I didn't write a trip report because I'm waiting for Ellen to...

Anyone know if there's significant avalanche danger on the slopes above Tamarack? I don't know enough about snow to be able to predict when it's safe and when it's not.

Hi Zip, I doubt that crampons will be appropriate footwear for quite some time, given the amount of new snow, it's super deep. Re avalanches, I don't think the slopes above Tamarack are prone to avalanche due to the angle not really being steep enough, and also the number of trees and big rocks on the slope which help to anchor the snow.

Awesome day yesterday one and all! beautiful weather and pristime conditions. good to see you again Calicokat and great to see Lilbitmo's smiling face in the tram (minus the beard, almost did not recognize you!) and your sister.

when i asked everyone while we were standing outside the summit hut in awe of the beauty of the mtn, the snow laden trees and the views, if there was anywhere else you rather be right now, the answer was a resounding... NO! that said it all. it was a perfect day. :D

to those that did not get up there this weekend, i hope you willl soon. the beauty of Mt. San Jacinto after the bounty of the recent storms is not to be missed.

btw... i killed my camera recently and have no pix until i can afford to buy a new one. thanks for your pix, Dave, Jim and Kathryn. look forward to seeing yours soon Karin.

climb on! :D
