BACK TO BACK

General Palm Springs area.

Howdy Kathy :)

You're much braver and hardier than I am -- going back down Bear Canyon from Baldy shreds my quads. My feet were trashed after the 9 peaks challenge a week ago Saturday.

Howdy All :)

I'm planning on one Skyline for sure on November 7 (thanks Z). If I attempt two Skylines, I'll be prepared to walk back down on the second one. My other option is to short rope myself to Tina for the second one...

Ellen

The 7th?

I'm hoping for two. I'm thinking about bringing the RV and putting it at the museum. Could be a good base of operations, but I'll need Ivette to drive me home. This is shaping up to be quite an event!

Bummer,

Saturday Nov 7th is the date of the Big Rock Triathlon.
I dont suppose that would count as one of the backs in back to back?

So, I'm not the only crazy one. Actually, with the easy exit in Long Valley it's not so crazy and seems like it's worth trying to do the full C2C (Cactus to Clouds and back down to the Cactus).

You don't happen to have a helicopter too, do you zip? Just in case! We could also have a collection and hire a masseuse who could do double duty in the RV brewing a significant amount of coffee!

I'm planning to attempt it on the 7th as well, but the second leg will be dependent on the prevailing weather conditions. I've never started later than 5am, and, as we know, an 8.45 - 9am start is an entirely different proposition. Being an anal planner, I've been thinking of an abort point for #2. If I'm up there, I think Shade Rock is a good one for me.

Howdy Mark,

The only chance I have of completing two back-to-back Skylines is to start early, say 4 AM. I'll bring a rope along to tie onto Tina or Z-dude as they fly by at warp speed.

Someone could do a brisk business by putting up a concession stand at Flat Rock  If I recall, Jim Bakos of RMRU has considered this

Howdy Doreen,

Thanks so much for your company last Saturday -- I look forward to hiking with you again soon 8)

Ellen

"seems like it's worth trying to do the full C2C (Cactus to Clouds and back down to the Cactus)."

....that would be the perfect thing to do if the tram happened to not be running.

When you come down between the 1st and 2nd climb, will you hike back down the trail or will you take the tram?

i will be taking the tram down-my parents are going to car shuttle peeps from the tram back to the museum, which will save us costs. they know that people will come in at different times so they plan to do this all day-when the time gets closer i will release more details as to how the whole thing will function-still trying to figure that all out...:)
