Guadalupe to Sugarloaf Cafe

General Palm Springs area.

Hiking Jim, the entire hike is comprised of two segments of Trails (Boo Hoff and Cactus Springs) and they are connected by a route called the Guadalupe. The Guadalupe section is about 5.6 miles and has a clear use trail but it is waaaay more difficult to follow than say the Skyline or Sid Davis routes. Thanks to fellow hikers like Bluerail, there now are good sets of cairns that get you through most of it, although it's still easy to get off-route. So one must be alert.

For sure if you find yourself scrambling in rocks or in dense brush - you've lost the route. Kathryn and I led our subgroup and never encountered any difficult sections. But for sure it's easy to wander off the route in many sections.

It's similar to a other of my favorite, rarely used Trails - Jo Pond. Both are a great day afoot in nature.

Looks like I need to get out there again.

no. guadulupe hike starts at the top of the La Quinta Cove. Not on any topo.

Sugarloaf Cafe is in Pinyon, directly across from the fire station, near the trailhead for the Cactus Spring Trail.

No, you're still off.

Here's a hint:

N 33.61047 W 116.32170

I'm not sure if that is exact, but it's close.

Hmm. Well, when I plot that point on Google, it doesn't seem to be the start of a route. :?

Just looking at the map and where Guadalupe Canyon is, I think starting over in the general vicinity of Lake Cahuilla makes the most sense. I plotted that in my second map link.

the point I posted isn't the starting point - it is a junction along the route
