1:00 Sat Sept 29. My tortillas can become quesadillas if you have a fry pan Jim. Plus some good ole mac & cheese ( I can boil the water for that myself).

Anybody thinkin beverages?

I've (as you know) organized a couple of these. It seems that a few (10%) enjoy hiking and getting together with the people they meet, 90% enjoy hiking and are unable (whether or not they would like ) to get together with the people they meet. There's no right or wrong, as far as I can tell, just a personal/logistical probability. Sort of a Schrodinger's Cat proposition. I am guessing a high probability that I can attend next weekend!

Howdy All

I'm hoping that the afternoon timing will allow for a hike either from the tram before the Potluck or up Skyline (for the very fit and heat tolerant) to the tram.

I appreciate that Skyliners won't want to carry stuff up Skyline (still want to have a deli at Flatrock some day for InFerno). Ideas for fast out of town Skyliners (you know who you are) -- leave one car at tram station with everyone's food. Hike up Skyline, come down tram to pick up food, go back up for Potluck.

Those hiking from the tram can perhaps store stuff in lockers if this is allowed.

The less people that come, the more omelets, muffins, cookies, and molasses bread for the rest of us

The truly fit can just do a C2C and stop by the Hikin' Fools potluck to replenish calories on the way back to the tram. Perfect!

I did a little on-the-trail baking this past Saturday en route to Icehouse Saddle. Blueberry. It was De-lish.

Speaking of "Cat", any chance that she (or any other members of clan Zip) might join us? I'm sure Joyce would like to see her and any other Zipsters.

Maybe I'll bring my little ultralight hammock for any kids to play in (or adults who need a nap). Here's a video of Joyce playing in the hammock if you need a little light heartedness on a Monday.

What's with the eye buddy? You ok? I feel like I missed something..

Yeah, my eyes sucked it up for a good bit of this summer. For a while it got so bad I couldn't read, couldn't drive, and couldn't work. First I got a spider bite, and then it got invaded by a virus. Apparently my cornea is very tasty. The virus came for lunch and decided to stay for dinner and breakfast too. Both eyes were affected, but the left eye was so bad that they sealed it with medicine and taped it shut for several days. Went on for about a month altogether, although the worst of it was only maybe a week, thank God. Danged bad business.


I'd put a photo up of me without the bandage, but Perry would have to ban me from the forum afterwards for grossing everyone out.

OK, enough gross stuff. Here's a cute pic of Joycie playing in the hammock.

It looks as though I'll be there, with some salty chips and dip (for the sodium depleted). But I won't be doing Skyline as they are forecasting a 100+ degree day on Saturday. Besides, I'm so slow I'd have to leave the museum before 3am to get up to the top by 1pm.

I know the potluck is to take place in Long Valley, but where exactly? At one of the picnic tables near the mountain station? I guess I can always wander around until I recognize Hikin' Jim wearing his pirate hat and eye patch!

If memory serves me well, there are some picnic tables over to the right after you come down the cement walkway from the tram. That's where we met last time.

I'm going to try to be there as close to 1:00 as I can, but they're doing a major freeway shut down that day out this way. Not sure what that will do to traffic.
