Hiker lost in Joshua Tree

General Palm Springs area.

I'm guessing he was in Long Canyon. He probably could have walked to Desert Hot Springs pretty easily.

LA Times article here ► http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me ... 1903.story

Article says he was in East Wide canyon. East Wide is the next canyon east of Long Canyon. I suppose staying in one spot for days wasn't a bad idea but if he'd walked south down the canyon he probably could have walked out to Dillon Road without too much trouble. In any case i'm glad he made it out okay.

The article says he had 3 or 4 liters of water -- that's one day's supply. It's nothing short of a miracle for someone to survive in J Tree in September for six days on that little amount of water.

Considering the heat wave we had over the weekend, that is one hell of a miracle, a little angel must have been on his shoulders for the last couple of days, glad he made it. :D Another lesson learned.

I wondered if he stretched the water out or drank it all in the beginning ?

I know they say not to save it...but mentally ? I would want some around.

His details would be great to read.

You're good. I couldn't get rid of it fast enough -- it was only up for a minute or two before I realized I screwed up.
