How far down from the chockstone did you drop into Snow Creek? Every time I've done it I drop into the canyon just below it. Maybe your pictures are out of order but it looked like you dropped in really low.

I remember that fan palm grove. It was burned in the mid 70's and recovered well by the time I saw it in 79.
Mmmm... pushing that boulder Reminded me of trying to get a 1 ton piece of quartz granodiorite off my wife's hand. That was a hectic day.

To mid thigh... You da' gnar!
That snow up top..
You had your peril-proof lenses in? Right?

Thanks for the pictures, Steve. I think with another 3 sets of Snow Creek pictures from you, with your commentaries, I won't need a map to get to the chockstone :)

Hal, where we are dropping down into the chute is just below the chockstone, maybe 100 meters or so. right after the old campsite with the bench. Pictures are out of order somewhat. but tried to keep the ones covering the east ridge route somewhat in order.

Tony, where can you get those peril-proof lenses ? do they actually help ?

Peril Proof Lenses

I can attest they help immensely. 10 years of Class V personal and commercial rafting and I never had a ... well that was a bad day, but, oh what the hell.
The instructions book was 14 pages long and you had to sign and mail in the last page before use.
I have one pair left and as the manufacturer was sued into non-existance I'll never part with them.

Man, I think I need those glasses way more than you guys! Hand 'em over.

Hey, is it possible to drop into the chute above the chockstone and avoid the technical climbing? That would make a summer/fall approach doable for me without the glasses!

Incidentally........................um....................................still waiting on that video Steve! With a kid helping, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes!

To everyone but bluerail: you'll notice that there's still no footage of the "avalanche"....I think it's because Steve and Fern decided to fake us out with that story. If you'll notice in the image below, it's just a bunch of snowballs they put together while they were taking a break.

Gotta watch those two. Man, that's a lot of snowballs...must have taken them hours!

Probably the same studio they used for the Apollo landing...

Glad you guys had a safe outcome. So, where's the vid? I know it's out there somewhere.
