wow, what a beautiful day it was! it was great to see and meet so many faces from the board(s) out there. the rime ice on the trees made for a truly magical Winter Wonderland day! it gets prettier and prettier everytime i am on San J! if the snows keep coming the summit sign which is covered in rime and has already turned 90 degrees from wind last month will soon be under snow.

thanks Ellen for your great TR and Tracie for your beautiful photos. it was fun to 'shoe with both of you. also enjoyed the 'shoe back with Jim, Ernie and Mark too. i too look forward to Jim's (Calicokat) photos.

i second Tracie's comment about GPS. it winter, it certainly is easy to get lost or off-route out there. just 'cuz you're following tracks does not mean you are following a good route. (see Dave G's TR from Dec 2007 to confirm what that did to us then! ) plus, and after a storm there might not be any tracks, which was our case Sunday. so we ended up taking a "less direct" route but tagged two summits. i guess you could call it a "Super Summit Sunday" for us. the slope up Jean was not a piece of cake since it was steep and the new snow made it slippery. talk about one step up and two steps back! :? but the company was great, the mountain beautiful and the day divine!

climb on!
:D
