C'mon Walt, you know you followed the math and were thinking, "Hmm. You know, that's actually possible!" You're already thinking about 3...

Just a thought

Instead of two Skylines how about two different killer hikes? I'm thinking Snow Creek to MSJ via the PCT and THEN a Skyline.

That way no steps are repeated and the Peak gets some attention.

I think Angelus Oaks to Fish Creek would be fun.

I did it from Fish Creek to Angeles Oaks a few years ago and it was great fun--with the exception of the rattler down near the end. I liked doing it that way because the beer and bacon burger were closer to the finish.

Zip, you read my mind. I am already in training to do 2 next year. I went to the gym this AM and cranked up the settings on every machine I did! I'm also obsessed about figuring out hikes to do all winter to keep in shape.

I don't really have the "inevitable question" after last Saturday, I just have lots of inspiration to be in better hiking shape from watching some of the regular here powering up Skyline for the second time like school kids that were just let out of school -- full of pent-up energy.
My goal in the near future is to work on my speed then come back to Skyline and try to see if I can bring my time down to 8 hours or better. On hikes, since I mostly do hikes I have not done before, I tend to wander around, at 1mph or less, taking pictures, enjoying the scenery and never really "push it." I have now done Skyline 2.5 times, time for me to pick up the pace a bit to get with the program here :) Plus, at 1mph, lots of wonderful day hikes are out of my reach. I'll start this process as soon as my blistered heels heal. Thanks for the inspiration, everybody.

I did Vivian to Angelus Oaks with Ellen and Karin. It was a great stroll.

Hal's idea has a lot of merit to it. Everything all on one mountain and a bar at the finish line.

Or perhaps a new local route up from say the north end of Lykken. You know the cul de sac in little Tuscany, hit the tables and go up from there. A new route would help to take the pressure off Skyline.

4 skylines at 5 hr pace would totally be feasible.

it's better to go slower consistently than faster + break.

3am-8am. 9-2. 3 -8. 9 -2am.

have a bunch of people camp out somewhere up in round valley / tamarack (closer the better) waiting for those who finish at 2am with tents and hot cocoa :D

I'd be happy to scout this with you sometime. I've got a few other hikes planned to get out of the way but this would be a great option for people to do a connection with the Skyline in the winter when the upper reaches are covered in snow.
