Hi Bryan and Heather! Was good to meet you guys this morning and to chat a bit on our drive up Martinez Canyon. I'll be looking forward to hearing how your backpacking trip goes. I had a good morning hike myself. Agua Alta is a neat place. Was good to visit the area again.

Nice photos, Florian. I still haven't done anything with my photos yet! Heather posted some on facebook which I think you've seen. Thank you for the ride. You know that really helped us out.

To follow up on the original thread here, Heather and I refilled our water containers at the fire station when we crossed the hwy. We spent one night out between there and the trading post and didn't need any more water for that section. Nor did we see any water until we were within a mile or so of the trading post.

The section from the hwy to the trading post is much shorter (time wise) than the section from Martinez Canyon to the hwy. The trail is very easy to follow and barely has any up and down. Up from Martinez Canyon we had to do some bushwacking, some map and compass work, and had to pay a bit of attention to stay on route. There's also a fair bit of up and down. Where to climb out of Martinez Canyon isn't well-marked, but it's obvious if you're paying attention to the 7.5' map.

We took 2.5 days to reach the hwy and 1.5 to get from there to the trading post, and our last day was the shortest.
