Rick - I heard of someone doing Skyline twice on the same day, but cant remember who it was. Stan was saying that he thought it was possible to do it three times in one day time wise, but he wasnt volunteering yet because of the weather.


Tina - Alan K did Baldy three times in one day from Manker Flats and his son Eric four times (See What are you doing on June 30 - in the California other areas section) for a trip report.
Sid Davis hiked San Jacinto 643 times (wikipedia) but mainly from the tram.
He climbed Cactus to Clouds before the tram was built.

apparently, I'm still screwed up and need to just keep walking....if anybody is doing a double on skyline and wants company lmk. I'm not sure if the voice alone can motivate me.

Anybody interested in doing a double Skyline on the July full moon?

? It'll be too hot on the second run - you'd have to start at 8:30-8:45 at the earliest (due to the tram arriving at the lower station at about 8:15), so you'd be in the heat of the day in the sun after a short while. Ugh. Maybe October?

Actually, I was thinking of doing the San Gorgonio 9 peaks in July. That's more than enough of a challenge for me. Spending most of the day above 10 K also sounds better than the heat of Skyline. I want to do a car shuttle -- go up Vivian and come down Angelus Oaks.

I agree with Z -- I would only consider a double Skyline in the fall. Good grief -- what am I saying? Reading Rick Kent's amazing hiking feats must be affecting my mind

Can you come on the hike and to Z's get together this Saturday?

Ellen: Mark is coming, which I was very happy to hear. It will certainly be more fun with his crazy sense of humor.

Hey, about that 9 peaks, it would be fun to get a group together. Post the date you're thinking of going, and maybe I could be the west end shuttle. I've been wanting to do it as an out and back, so I could park at Angelus Oaks, meet you guys on San G, then we could all come back together. I've generally only done the divide trail, not hit each of the peaks, so that would be a fun new adventure.

We're actually still having great weather in the desert. I know we're gonna pay for it though.

Tina, I have to confess that I've only done the full C2C once, even though I've done both parts separately many many times. On that one time I got a late start, ran out of water before Long Valley, ran out of water again before the peak (forgot to compensate for dehydration by filling up extra bottles at the ranger station) and reached the summit in 4:21. I think a cyclist on the Outdoors Club forum said he has done 4:15, and I've heard that a few people have done 4:20-ish. It is humanly possible to go sub-4. I think most competitive athletes start at the Museum and stop at the tram. Comparing Skyline times can be vague because some people stop their watch at Grubbs Notch (I was just barely under 2:45 on my fastest time) or the back patio of the Tram (2:48:44). And some people like to go straight up to Grubbs View and scare the tourists.
