Hey zip, since were not doing anything like 4000' in 3 miles (sounds fun) I'll just throw a small chain saw and some fuel on my pack. That way we won't need to worry about bringing long pants and sleeves.

I wish I could go up Black Mountain and stash stuff, I don't have that kind of week this week, and I never noticed the Blair Witch sign. I've parked on the side of Snow Creek rd. right where the little single lane paved rd. hits it and had no trouble.

...and uh, oh yea, thanks for not bringing up that were going to suffer until after I agree to go.

I hope you other guys have a great trip too, sounds like fun.

I like it steep uphill. I'm still debating, but we got a permit for 12 on Vivian creek (right Tina?), so I'm thinking of taking a special x-country route up, part of which will gain a nice 4000 ft in 3 miles  .

Yes, I have the permit, called ranger bill and he changed it to 12 people.
Just let me know what time and where to meet, i am ready to go.
Ze has become quite the adventure hiker, i hope i can keep up.
BTW, how much water are you bringing Ze?

Zip and Bluerail- be careful and have a great time. Looks like we will all be wearing pants for our Saturday hikes this weekend.

That's where I meant. That strange sign looks like one of those weird symbols that they came across in the Blair Witch Project that made them get lost and wander again and again in circles, never finding their way home...which reminds me....

...When bcox and I did the trail a couple of years ago, it was kinda strange. At 3 hours into Skyline, you think "Well, we're over halfway there. This is tough, but we're getting there!" Not like that on the PCT.

Conversation 3 hours in on the PCT:
bcox: "How far are we now?"
me: "About 8 or 9 miles."
bcox: "What? That can't be right. What's our elevation?"
me: "4000."
bcox: "You mean we're 3 hours in, and we're only about a third done?"
me: "Yeah. A little less than that. We're going to suffer."

At least you know in advance! Tell Kathryn you love her before you go. Just in case...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it!

If you guys want to impress anyone you need to do Snow Creek PCT, over peak, down via Skyline. I'll give you a ride back to your Snow Creek startpoint.

Okay. I appreciate the lift. Steve will have his chainsaw with him, so we might take a while, but we'll look for you at the museum.

If you don't see us, just keep waiting...

If you don't see us by June 27, please show up at the Mill Creek Ranger Station at 6:00 a.m. You going to come to the get-together?

I think going down skyline especially in the up coming months is a death march.
What about going up skyline twice in one day, a REAL back to back if you will. Do we know of anyone that has done this?

I think Florian was kidding Tina.

A REAL back to back might be fun in October, avoiding the midday heat but getting in a real challenge. I think 3 ups in a day are possible, though it would be tough. I'd want to do two before I tried for 3. Maybe in October, start at 12:01 a.m., get to the tram around 6:00 and take a nap, down at 8:00 and hit the trail, finish around 1:00 or 2:00? See what I mean, it would be work, but it would be doable. Now 3 I'm not so sure about, but we could get a group of really hardcore people in October to try it if anyone wanted to. FIGHT ON already said he'd show up to cheer for me on the third attempt if I commit to do it. That's inspiring all by itself.

Hi, Zip,

In general, the route to the top of the Dragon's Head is from the small saddle immediately west of the tarn taking the north ridge to the summit. If you're coming from above, it makes sense to cross the tarn to the Dragon's Head , even more so if you plan to do Bighorn.
