Hi There Hale & Hearty!

I'll join you on Sunday the first tram if weather permits. I'm no speedster, but chug along and I've got some new MSRs to try out.

Hi CalicoKat et al,
I'm still planning to head up tomorrow. Based on Ellen's latest post, Wellman Divide will be a reasonable goal. Weather report calls for about a 25% chance of snow, but further says only about 1"--so it shouldn't be what folks encountered today.

I'm 5' 4", short red hair, light orange Gregory pack and blue MSR snowshoes. I'll look for you in the boarding area.

See you on the first tram.

Oh, and what time do you need to be there to get onto the first tram? Would 7:30 be good

I ended up doing a hike down at lower elevations today - I just didn't feel well enough to be out in the cold wind. Was it sunny up at the upper tram station? It's so hard to tell what it's like up high from down low.

Sunday trip

Postby mark2812 » Sun Feb 08, 2009 9:39 pm

Headed out to the summit today with Calicokat , Karen R and met up with Steve at Tamarack. We had an excellent and challenging day.

Caught the first tram, loaded with hikers, skiers (one guy in shorts) and mountaineers. Lots of fresh snow all the way from mountain station to the summit. Conditions were mostly cloudy, very short periods of faint blue sky, not too windy below Tamarack, but started to get windy on the way up to the summit. Steady snow fall, not big flakes, more wind swept flakes. Temperature on the summit at around 2pm, -10F, not taking into account wind chill..it was COLD! Lots of snow - great for taking out the skis and snowshoes.

CailcoKat & Mark glad you made it safe & sound...it was getting pretty cold and windy toward the end of the day. Thanks for letting me tag along, I'd never have attempted the summit without the experience in our group in routefinding. Steve and I got back to the station around 5:30 and waited to ensure your safe return, but must have missed your arrival. Glad all turned out well. See you next time!

Howdy Mark,

Thanks so much for leading the group up yesterday. Lance's schedule is very tight, so when he can hike, I go.

Howdy Karen,

Sorry I missed you -- look forward to your company again in the near future.

Howdy CalicoKat,

Sorry I had to switch days -- you were in great hands with Mark. I'm sure I'll meet you on the trails soon.

I will be back out on the mountain this Sunday with Karin -- guaranteed.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen
