New Snow Down To 6,000ft

Postby magikwalt » Thu Jan 24, 2008 7:34 am

Last night's snow accumulated nicely and this morning the bare patches on San Jacinto have been filled in. The forcast is calling for continued snow falls at upper elevations thru the next few days. :D

I'll bet it's lower than that. I'm looking at snow down to about 2500' above Pasadena.

I live at 3200' elevation in Yucaipa, and it was snowing at my house just a few minutes ago. I hope this translates into a ton of snow higher up!

It started raining for real last night about 8:30pm in Palm Springs. Just in the last 20 minutes it has finally slacked off. Water is pouring through Palm Springs headed east towards the wash. The clouds are down around 2,000ft so I don't have a view of San Jacinto but there is no doubt this storm dropped a considerable amount of moisture right on target.

In La Quinta overnight we had 1.2 inches of rain. It's not real cold here but I bet up high on the mountain they've had a significant amount of snow. Woo Hoo!

Another big cell of action hit Palm Springs about an hour ago and continues to dump a great deal of water. Once again the East-West running streets are filled with moving water. I expect to be draining water from my pool by the morning. Its already moved up over 4" since last night.

The NOAA site is calling for another 7-11" tonight up at 10,500ft. Time to unpack the snow shoes for sure!!!
