Lost My Keyfob on San Jacinto today??

Postby MACgyver » Sun Aug 02, 2015 5:13 pm

I hiked in the San Jacinto area today, and came back without the keyfob for my 2014 Ford Focus. The fob is black, and has two keys attached. Fortunately, my wife had her fob, otherwise we would still be there I suppose. Now I find out that I need 2 programmed fobs in order to program another one, and, of course, I only have one now...my bad!! It is going to be expensive to have the dealer get involved, of course. :x
I hiked in the following areas today. I rode up the Tram, and hiked the Sid Davis drainage until reaching the trail to SJ Peak. From there I hiked to Saddle Junction, and then half way down to Little Round Valley. I then returned to Saddle Junction, and hiked back to Wellman to meet my wife. We had lunch sitting on a large rock at Wellman. Finally, I went back to the Tram via the Lower Round Valley Loop!
I asked at the Valley Station if anyone had turned in a keyfob, and they hadn't. The gentleman also called up to the Mountain Station, but still no luck. I filled out a Lost and Found form in case anyone turns it in in the future.
Thanks in advance if you know anything about a found keyfob!

I received a call Sunday late afternoon that my keyfob has been found on the Sid Davis, and turned in. I will be picking it up tomorrow. Many thanks to whomever went out of their way to turn that in. I sincerely appreciate that!!!

Now that the key has been found, I hope it is not too rude to turn the course of the thread but I must ask - where did you take that photo for your profile? It looks really amazing.

I want to second the "You Rock"! Well done Neverwas. It's a small episode but cheering to know that we have a caring community of thoughtful individuals who will put in that extra effort to help others.

Whitney!? I had assumed Denali or the like. I have only done Whitney during warm autumn snow-free days, so I would never have recognized it. BTW, a few years ago I lost my GPS up on San Gorgonio. It was returned to me by another hiker a few days later. It must have been on the trail for a few hours based upon when she said she found it. I lost it again on San Timoteo Canyon Road, and realized about 15 minutes later. It was gone for good, though I knew exactly where it must have fallen. It had my name and phone # on it, they simply took it instead of returning it. The hiking community, as far as I can tell, is vastly more honest than the community at large. Thanks, nwhb, for having confirmed this happy conviction! Yes, I realize you feel like it's over the top to keep thanking you since you did the only thing you ever would have done...which is why I'm proud to be part of this group. :)

No, he said McKinley, i.e. Denali, not Whitney, Zip. It would be cool if you ever posted a TR on that little 'hike', NeverWas! It must make everything around here seem pretty low-key!

Hah! How on earth did I see Whitney? Well, at least I was wrong in thinking that I was wrong when I was really right. And yes, a TR from that trip would be a good read!
