Water at Caramba

Postby jhart » Thu Jun 13, 2013 8:06 am

Hi,
I'm planning a overnight trip down to Caramba next weekend. Even though it's early yet with the dry year I'm wondering how much water is flowing down there and about water sources in route. Anybody been down in the last several weeks who can let me know conditions?

Thanks!

I came through laws this past saturday empty and hoping to pick up water, the water was low and not flowing, as desperate as I was passed on it. Take a pump.

Not dry, there was water. Dont count on much _nice water_. Seriously a pump or boiling....youre good. If i had one (preferably a pump) id hang for days. There IS water. . Dealt with much worse.

Nice thing is that it is cold water.

It's nice in the basin right now. Just not the flow you would expect for this time of year.

Thanks for the update Steve. I've been thinking about starting a new thred on the current status of the water sources. It is so dry up there.

Did you happen to go by Wellman Cienega or check Tahquitz Creek up in Little Tahquitz Valley?

Hey Brett, there is water at wellmans cienega but it would take awhile to fill a bottle, a very slow trickle. None in little tahquitz valley though.

hope youre doing good and hope to run into out there soon buddy.

On Memorial Day, admittedly a little dated now, Little Tahquitz creek was flowing at the PCT.

Thanks for the responses! It doesn't look like anyone here has been down to Caramba lately, after our hike next weekend we will report back on conditions down there. Thanks again for all of the timely responses, this board is a great resource!

Our trip was postponed; the wife got a massive migraine the night before so we didn't go up. We're planning to try again in a couple weeks so anyone who can report on the water situation at Caramba that would be great!
