C2C Monday the 25th. Beta please?

Hello, My climbing partner and I are thinking of a C2C on Monday morning.

Have done C2C several times but not in the last 12 months. Is there anything that we should be aware of (trail change, new obstacles, etc.).

This time of year? Are you sure? The weather forecast is for 105F today. I'm not sure I'd want to do it this time of year. A lot of people might wait until fall. Just a thought.

Howdy CA

The NOAA forecast is for a low of ~70 Sunday night and high of 99 in Palm Springs on Monday.

I've done Skyline with these temperatures but did not enjoy those trips. I am in decent shape (my Skyline times range from 4 1/2 to 6 hours) but I do not tolerate the heat well.

I started at 3 AM or earlier so that I was above 4 K when the sun came up. Even without radiant heat, the rocks retained the heat and I was sweating within five minutes of leaving the museum.

Regarding obstacles -- there are several new trees down between Flatrock and the traverse and one on the traverse. These should not cause route finding problems.

Hm. Guess OP doesn't know I closed Skyline.

For whatever reason, the NOAA forecasts are consistently three to four degrees lower than everybody else's forecasts (and, usually, what it turns out to be.) I"d say a high of 103 and a low of 73 is much more likely.

I'm sure everyone is tired of me saying it, but heck, it's almost my job by now: OP, summer C2Cs are way too dangerous. Why not wait till fall?

cynthia23 - I am not sure who OP is, I am guessing that you made a typo and you are referring to my two posts in this thread. If I am incorrect, can someone fill me in to OP. After reading many many pages on this site today, I feel sure that you are truly concerned about everyone that heads out on Skyline this time of the year. As I mentioned in my long post in your thread A modest proposal to slightly decrease rescues on Skyline, I am very stoked at the stewardship and thoughtfulness to safety that you display here in this forum. I want you to know, I have heard your position on the matter and will add it to my final go/no go assessment on Sunday night.
