Cactus to Clouds Hiking Guide is Back Online!

New and improved, and updated!
Cactus to Clouds Hiking Guide

I still plan to make more changes, but at least it's up and running now. I know the peak photo is old. I'll change that... Near the title I would also like to use cactus and clouds photos that were taken here on Mt. San Jacinto...

As far as the text, it should read better now and be more with the times (everything changes). If anybody has suggestions on making it easier to understand, I'm all ears. If there are any errors or typos, please feel free to let me know. I've been editing the text, format, and links for so long that it's felt like doing taxes. It would be nice to get some feedback from fresh eyes.

Sorry for taking so long to get it back online. I'm going to take a break from working on this, but in the future I'll continue to make improvements and work to get it back into Google search results...

C2C or Skyline?

Postby ziplinesd » Wed May 02, 2012 8:18 am

I was wondering, is the trail to the tram from Palm Springs the "Skyline trail" or "Cactus to Clouds" or both? when I think of C2C I think of Palm Springs to the Peak of San Jacinto.

Actually, I was a little bit disappointed:

"The author doesn't know everything..."

What? C'mon, Perry, you dabble with everything from endurance running to engineering to website administration to art on a chalkboard car. Name one thing you don't know!

JK. But seriously, that site is how I knew to approach Skyline with fear and trepidation the first time I went, and after that first time it was ingrained in every cell of my body to respect the trail. I appreciate the effort and time you take to make it and this board possible.

Very helpful...I think I studied an older version of this before attempting C2C for the first time.

Under ""How Long Will It Take?," the first paragraph is a little unclear. People might get the impression that it's talking about C2C, rather than just Skyline. (It says, "Most hikers finish at the tram...," but both Skyline and C2C end at the tram.) Maybe this would be clearer if it read, "Most hikers stop at the tram without continuing to San J Peak."

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

Stan, you made me laugh. Looks like we can't call you zip anymore because there's 2 zips now. Did you see the snake joke at the end of the snakes section?

Zipline, Skyline ends near the tram (edge of Long Valley). If someone says, "Cactus to Clouds Trail" they could mean Skyline. If they say, "Cactus to Clouds" they might mean the entire trip from PS to the peak.

bcrowell, thanks for that thought. I'll edit that section again and make it more clear. The web page may have little if any changes for awhile because I'm getting busy with work, but I do want to make it easier to understand.
