Longer out I have been pulling data together on Hwy74 down into Anza-Borrego State Park. Once I have it pieced together I want to go multiday from the Indian Canyons over Hwy74 and down into the park.

I've done Villager/Rabbit from S22, but I'd like to try it from down near Oasis in the Coachella Valley.

Hi Kathy,

If you get a shot to do Rabbit from S22 I'd like to join you if possible. I hate out and back hikes so having a route from one end to the other would be nice.

I am going to work on the Indian Canyon Rangers to see if its possible to get a better starting hour one day to hit the Jo Pond Trail.

How about a shuttle hike from Avenue 77/Polk Street in Oasis to Rabbit, on to Villager, and then out to S22? It would be easier to end up in the dark on that use trail from Villager to S22 than on the way back down to Oasis from the summit of Rabbit.

I will be going out to check out the beginning of the route from Oasis to Rabbit sometime this month.

Ah, for Rabbit the HPS directions have you turn south onto Filmore where Filmore and Avenue 74 intersect old Hwy 86(Harrison) and go 2.5 miles to the end, which would be Avenue 79 & Filmore if 79 existed. Not too much different than Polk & 77.

It looks like about 18 miles and close to 9000' gain to the shuttle hike from Polk/77 to S22. I'll try to cache water out there somewhere in advance - maybe on Villager Peak.

#1. Hope to do this before the first snowfall of the season.
#2. Went to Mission Creek Preserve on Monday. Thought about doing this downhill because I figure the shuttle will be easier.
#3 One of my favorite hikes; have done this tons of times and it never disappoints.
#4. Long, one day trip. Not hard, just long. Expect to hike in the dark a couple hours.
#5. Have done Rabbit twice from the east starting and finishing in the dark. Harder than Skyline but I think the Villager route is easier.

I also would love to do a crossing FROM Borrego over but figured I'd hike down to La Quinta rather than hit 74. That way I could just walk home.

and out past the Coachella Valley north of Interstate 10 as you close in on the Palo Verde Valley there's Granite and Palen Mountains. I'd like to climb Granite and Palen Mountains - maybe in January. I did Big Maria out in that area a couple of years ago and enjoyed that one.
