Hello Fellow Hikers,
I finally learned how to get on this Board. Now I can stay on top
of all those Hikers I give lectures to on Skyline when they insist on
hiking the trail when its covered with snow. As I always tell hikers
who are not familiar with the trail, you are either an experienced
Alpine Hiker or an IDIOT. Not eveyone has been very receptive to
this comment. I don't mean to offend anyone, but if the regulars are
not on the trial, like Scott, Andy,Cy, Jack, Tina and myself, then obviously
we know better! It proves nothing to hike in these conditions and run
the risk of a rescue. On top of that, it makes it worse for the rest of
us who are not putting ourselves out there in danger. Its only a matter
of time before they close that trail down or make us get permits to
hike Skyline. That would be a shame to those of us who do the right
thing and act responsively.
Happy Trails Everyone

Hi Doreen - I'll probably be going up Skyline on Saturday. Since my preference is to walk and not fly back down, I'll be turning around at 5000'!

Look forward to seeing you on the trail again soon...

Welcome Doreen / Dances with the mountains. A very poetic and appropriate moniker!!!
Look forward to seeing you again on 'the mountain',
but not until more clement weather arrives!

Sat.HIke on Skyline

Postby DancesWithTheMountains » Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:30 am

HI Mike,
Jack and I had a great 5500ft. hike on Skyline Sat. We started off with Cy and Maria around 6:00a.m. It was a perfect day. Didn't run into
anyone going all the way up, thank God! You should come with us
on Saturdays even if you have to turn around. Its not all that bad.
