San Jacinto National Wilderness Permits

Postby summitch » Thu Jun 19, 2008 11:59 am

I've surfed until I'm blue in the face and haven't been able to find where I can download a wilderness permit application for a dayhike in the San Bernardino National Forest section of the San Jacinto Wilderness. Got link? Thanks. Mitch Miller

What I Learned on the Phone

Postby summitch » Thu Jun 19, 2008 3:43 pm

Thanks Jim. They answered the phone the second time I called them and told me they no longer make advanced dayhike reservations from the SBNF office in Idyllwild due to lack of staff. They also said they no longer impose a quota on any trail other than Devil's Slide, and that they put out five self-issue permits the night before, and give out another twenty-five when they open at 8 a.m.

They have a lack of staff? Where is the money from the adventure passes going?
